Anyway, this month was a rather "trying" one as far as parenting goes but a great month, none-the-less. We started off the month with lots of sporting events...UNM baseball and basketball games, fun doctor appointments, and a meeting with Big Brother Big Sisters in ABQ about a potential contract event planning job for me. I quickly found out that it was going to be too much work for me while being a stay at home mom full time but I was honored that they thought of me for the job though. We also went to Las Vegas, NV in this first week of March. Nevada makes Landon's 5th state to live/visit (NM, TX, AZ, CO, & NV) in his short 5 1/2 months of life! This baby is a traveling king!
We drove to Las Vegas (yes, 9 hours each way with a 5-month old!) with Lee for the Mountain West basketball tournament, in which the Lobos won the regular season conference and tournament. We had a blast at the South Point Hotel and Casino, attending basketball games, eating like champs with all of Lee's donors (think Steak pretty much every night), shopping, walking, and attempting to relax while on "vacation."
I use the term vacation lightly because during the last half of February and all of March, Landon decided that he would wake up EVERY single hour of every night for 6 weeks straight. I thought I was tired when he was a newborn but this was a whole new ball game folks. Lee and I have never ever been so tired and non-functioning in all of our lives. It was definitely the hardest 6 weeks of our lives and that's what made this month a "trying" month for parenting. We would try the cry-it-out method and he would still be screaming hours later....I think we tried everything we could but he just had to get past this stage and thankfully he has!
Anyway, enough about the "no sleeping" tangent. Here are a few pics from our time in Vegas.
The second week of March was REALLY hard for me, and I, still to this day, have no idea how I made it through except by the grace of God. We drove back from Vegas on a Sunday night and Lee left Tuesday morning to go with the basketball team to Portland, Oregon for post-season play and returned the following Sunday evening. Yes, I spent 6 days and 5 nights all by myself with an infant who only took a 45-minute nap during the day and woke up every hour of every night. I was so exhausted by the time that Lee got home that I think all I did was cry....but Lee did visit the Nike headquarter store in Portland and bought Landon and I matching Nike Shox and me some cute "girlie" shorts so that made up for some of it! While Lee was gone, I did host a baby shower for a friend here at our house and it was Landon's 1st St. Patrick's Day....here are a few pics!
The third week was much better for all of us except in the sleep department. We were able to go on walks with Lee in the evenings when he got home from work. I visited the dentist (yuck!), had auction meetings, lunch with a friend from Tucson/Phoenix who was in town, had Landon's 6-month check-up, the UNM business school Hall of Honor Gala, and an ABQ friend's baby shower. Here's a couple of pics
Landon's 6-month checkup from pretty well. He has dropped to below the 3rd percentile in weight (13lbs 7 oz) so the doctor wants me to start weaning him and giving him high-calorie formula since he only gained 14 ouces in 2 1/4 months. Apparently, they are supposed to gain a pound a month at this point in life and we have to come back in another month for a weight check. He was also 26.5 inches (25%) and still in the 10% for his head circumference. This month his favorite baby food is sweet potatoes and eats them up like crazy :) We wakes up a lot at night and is still refluxing a lot.....poor baby! He is sooooo sweet and smiley all the time, and we just love him to pieces.
The last week of March was pretty low key....thank goodness! We had more doctor and dentist appts., lunch and dinner with Lee, UNM spring football practice, going to see the Easter bunny and taking pics with him, and meeting with our CPA for taxes...so much fun!
Hope you had a great March too :)
