August 2012

Wow, what a great 1st summer we had with Landon!  I think he definitely made this one of the best summers of our lives.  Here's how our August panned out:

The first week was filled with the last half of my trip to Texas and Lee's trip to North Carolina.  I was able to see my grandparents, sweet cousins, and newphew along with a safe and successful plane ride back to Albuquerque.  I also attended a UNM bbq at Lee's boss's house, Lee had a golf tournament for work, and Landon attended his first minor league baseball game.

The second week was filled with meetings for the Auction, Landon's GI follow up appt, Lee's foundation board event, and Lee going to Ruidoso for the weekend with the UNM football team.  At Landon's GI follow up appt we learned that Landon only gained 1 ounce in 6 weeks putting his weight total to 15lbs 15oz at 11 months but he did grow an inch - putting his height at 28".  The doc took him off of formula and put him on PediaSure since it has 30 calories per ounce vs. breastmilk and formula which has only 20 calories per ounce.  He also put Landon back on baby food so that we can calculate exactly how much he is eating per feeding.  I keep a food journal of all he intakes.  The good news is we reduced his Nexium dosage by a third and it is working really well!  Hopefully the majority of the spit up days are behind us!! :)

The third week is August was a fun one but also one filled with lots of frustration.  Landon decided to stop eating baby food and table food this week.  Not a good thing when we're trying to put weight on him but we lived through it.  We also had lots of Auction meetings, life insurance meetings, writing out our wills, medical check ups, refinancing our home in Tucson, and our trip to Tucson all this week too.  While in Tucson, we stayed with the Campbell's and James and Betsy were excellent hosts, complete with driving us around and cooking us lots of yummy breakfast foods.  On Friday, Lee played in the FCA golf tournament while Landon and I hung out with Betsy and James and ate lunch at Beyond Bread.  That afternoon we met up with the Ingrams to decorate for Betsy's shower and then had dinner at my favorite restaurant in Tucson, Blanco!  Finally, it was Saturday, a.k.a Betsy's owl-themed baby shower!!!!! :)  First, Lee, Landon, and I had breakfast with the Dubs and Mark Stien, and it was a blast getting to meet the Dubs newest addition, sweet baby Quinn!  Then, off to the shower to celebrate Betsy and Baby Girl Campbell. I had so much fun catching up with friends that I forgot to take any pics....oops!  On Saturday afternoon, we checked on our house in Tucson and then Lee, Landon, and I had a 'date night' at Sauce, another one of our favorite places to eat while in the Tuc.  Then we headed home on Sunday morning after the "famous James Campbell" breakfast. Oh, on Sunday, after we got back to ABQ, Landon took his first steps by himself and he's only 11 months old!!!!!!! :)

The fourth week was another great week, even with Landon's food strike, but it was a busy one.  This is Auction week for Lee's work so Landon and I were running errrands for the event and helping out whenever and wherever we could.  Lee also went to Las Vegas with the basketball team donors and came back in time to help set up the Auction.  The Auction was Friday night and it was a success!!  Landon did great spending 7 hours with his babysitter while I worked the event.  On Saturday night, we had dinner at our friend's, the Snow's house.  So fun to get the kids together! Also, I was finally able to catch Landon standing long enough to take a couple of pics....enjoy!

Onto the last week in August.  It was a little more relaxing than the week before.  We had lunch with a sweet lady at Flying Star Cafe on Tuesday, then met Emily and her girls, Annie and Kate, on Thursday for a picnic lunch at the UNM Duck Pond, and finally we had a luncheon with some of the football coaches wives on Friday before the big game on Saturday.

Hope your August was fantastic too, and now we're looking forward to September, my favorite month and favorite season of the year!
