April 2012

April was a much better month for us parenting wise and we had a blast having so many visitors in town and going back to Dallas to see family.  Here's how our month went.

We started off April with Lee's mom's 60th birthday, dinner with Lee and watching the Lobos spring football practice, sweet Alexis' birthday, and my mom coming into town for Easter.  We had a great Easter and Landon loved learning all about Jesus and his sweet sacrifice for us so that we can have eternal life with Him.  The Easter bunny was VERY kind to Landon too, and we had a wonderful Easter lunch with my mom complete with Rudy's turkey....yummy!

The next week started off with a Lobo baseball game, getting the house cleaned, attending the basketball banquet, Lee taking a day trip to Santa Fe, and the Ingrams coming to visit us.  On Friday, the Ingrams, Landon, and me went to the Zoo and then Lee and I had a "date night" while Alexis and Brandon watched Landon for us....so sweet of them!  On Saturday, we had breakfast at Frontier, went to the duck pond on campus, UNM football event, napped and lunched at McAllister's, and shopping at the mall before we had dinner at Rudy's.  Sunday morning came too fast and the Ingrams left to drive back to Tucson.  I'm so thankful that we'll get to see them again in about a month or so!

The third week in April was filled with Auction meetings, dinner with a potential Lobo Club employee, Landon's 7th month weight checkup with Dr. Suga, our 7th dating anniversary(!), dinner at Marcello's with the Segall's, and family pictures.  Landon is finally back up to the 5% in weight and he gained 10 ounces in a month!!!  That's so good for my little man but unfortunately, his acid reflux is still pretty bad even after doubling his dosage of Prevacid for the last month....so, our pediatrician referred us to a Pediatric GI Specialist, Dr. Shover, and we will go see him on June 21st.  With that being said, our pediatrician said for us not to expect Landon to sleep through the night anytime soon because when he lays flat he reluxes a lot, which is causing him pain and he wakes up due to the pain.  So, we're still waking up anywhere from two to five times a night around here but sweet Landon is so worth it!

The last week off April is here....where has the time gone?! It was a pretty low key start to the week and then Landon and I left for Dallas very early on Wednesday morning while Lee flew to Orlando for work on Thursday morning until Saturday afternoon.  While in Dallas, Landon was able to hang out with his Lolli, cousin Harley, and the rest of Lolli's family at my cousin, Jenn's baby shower.  We can't wait for little Nathan to make his arrival in May!  Then Landon and I flew back to ABQ on Monday afternoon and met Lee up at his office so Landon could see his daddy.  Such a sweet reunion!

Anyway, we had a great April, and I hope yours was wonderful too.  I'm so blessed by my sweet little boy!

March 2012

Wow, I am officially the world's worst blogger....here it is May and I'm just now "catching up" on March's post....Wow, is all I can say to that!

Anyway, this month was a rather "trying" one as far as parenting goes but a great month, none-the-less.  We started off the month with lots of sporting events...UNM baseball and basketball games, fun doctor appointments, and a meeting with Big Brother Big Sisters in ABQ about a potential contract event planning job for me.  I quickly found out that it was going to be too much work for me while being a stay at home mom full time but I was honored that they thought of me for the job though.  We also went to Las Vegas, NV in this first week of March.  Nevada makes Landon's 5th state to live/visit (NM, TX, AZ, CO, & NV) in his short 5 1/2 months of life! This baby is a traveling king!

We drove to Las Vegas (yes, 9 hours each way with a 5-month old!) with Lee for the Mountain West basketball tournament, in which the Lobos won the regular season conference and tournament.  We had a blast at the South Point Hotel and Casino, attending basketball games, eating like champs with all of Lee's donors (think Steak pretty much every night), shopping, walking, and attempting to relax while on "vacation."

I use the term vacation lightly because during the last half of February and all of March, Landon decided that he would wake up EVERY single hour of every night for 6 weeks straight.  I thought I was tired when he was a newborn but this was a whole new ball game folks.  Lee and I have never ever been so tired and non-functioning in all of our lives.  It was definitely the hardest 6 weeks of our lives and that's what made this month a "trying" month for parenting.  We would try the cry-it-out method and he would still be screaming hours later....I think we tried everything we could but he just had to get past this stage and thankfully he has!

Anyway, enough about the "no sleeping" tangent.  Here are a few pics from our time in Vegas.

The second week of March was REALLY hard for me, and I, still to this day, have no idea how I made it through except by the grace of God.  We drove back from Vegas on a Sunday night and Lee left Tuesday morning to go with the basketball team to Portland, Oregon for post-season play and returned the following Sunday evening.  Yes, I spent 6 days and 5 nights all by myself with an infant who only took a 45-minute nap during the day and woke up every hour of every night.  I was so exhausted by the time that Lee got home that I think all I did was cry....but Lee did visit the Nike headquarter store in Portland and bought Landon and I matching Nike Shox and me some cute "girlie" shorts so that made up for some of it!  While Lee was gone, I did host a baby shower for a friend here at our house and it was Landon's 1st St. Patrick's Day....here are a few pics!

The third week was much better for all of us except in the sleep department.  We were able to go on walks with Lee in the evenings when he got home from work.  I visited the dentist (yuck!), had auction meetings, lunch with a friend from Tucson/Phoenix who was in town, had Landon's 6-month check-up, the UNM business school Hall of Honor Gala, and an ABQ friend's baby shower.  Here's a couple of pics

Landon's 6-month checkup from pretty well.  He has dropped to below the 3rd percentile in weight (13lbs 7 oz) so the doctor wants me to start weaning him and giving him high-calorie formula since he only gained 14 ouces in 2 1/4 months.  Apparently, they are supposed to gain a pound a month at this point in life and we have to come back in another month for a weight check.  He was also 26.5 inches (25%) and still in the 10% for his head circumference.  This month his favorite baby food is sweet potatoes and eats them up like crazy :)  We wakes up a lot at night and is still refluxing a lot.....poor baby!  He is sooooo sweet and smiley all the time, and we just love him to pieces.

The last week of March was pretty low key....thank goodness!  We had more doctor and dentist appts., lunch and dinner with Lee, UNM spring football practice, going to see the Easter bunny and taking pics with him, and meeting with our CPA for taxes...so much fun!

Hope you had a great March too :)

February 2012

February started off our traveling month.  Landon and I took 3 trips in 4 weeks and Lee took 5 trips in 5 weeks....so that's why I am a little behind on blogging for this month.

We started off February with a "normal" week, so to speak, before all the fun and craziness began.  We had a UNM Football Signing Day event to go to, I had lunch with a couple of girlfriends here, then we had a new-member class for joining our church and finally a superbowl party.

The second week marked a traveling week for all of us.  Lee's good friend from Notre Dame, Andrew, came in on Tuesday and then Landon and I flew back to Dallas on Wednesday to visit family.  It was my first time flying alone with Landon and he did great, as usual!  While I was in Dallas, Lee and Andrew went on a ski trip to Toas, NM.  They had a blast!  I had Landon's 5 Month Pictures taken while I was home along with seeing great-grandparents, dinner with my dad and grandmother, getting my hair done, a little shopping, and eating at my favorite restuarants.  Here are a few pics from our trips.

The third week marked Valentine's Day, Lee's trip to Dallas and Washington D.C. for work, UNM basketball game vs. UNLV, and our good friends from Tucson, Sarah and Jake Hawbaker, coming to visit us.  Lee and I actually got to go on a Valentine's dinner to Savoy but forgot to take pictures.  Go figure!  Thanks to Valerie and Bruce for watching Landon!

Finally, the last week in February came.  This is the week that Lee's parents and niece came in to visit us and we went on a ski trip to Wolf Creek and stayed in Pagosa Springs, CO at one of Lee's donor's house.  It was beautiful!  Landon and I hung out at the house during the day while everyone else skiied and then Lee and I spent all day on Saturday by ourselves while Lee's family drove back to ABQ.  It was a "mini family vacation" for just our family of three.  So fun!  We also had a UNM basketball game to go to that week as well as a "CAbi event" for a Coaches vs. Cancer fundraiser. Busy week!

February sure was fun but went by way too fast!

January 2012

So, what's new....I'm a little behing on blogging this year.  Landon is not the best sleeper in the world so it's hard for me to get a lot of things done, like blogging.  Anyway, here's how our January went.

After the we flew back from Christmas in Texas, we had a low key first week in January with just a couple of UNM basketball games and a date night....yes, a date night.  Those are so rare these days but Landon is worth all the time and attention!

The second week was a little more exciting with my father-in-law's birthday, Lee's board meeting, and finally our long weekend trip back to Tucson.  It was SO fun seeing everyone and showing Landon where his first 6 months in utero were spent.  I'm sure he enjoyed the trip as much as we did! ;)  He was so great on the long car rides and we only had to stop a couple of times to feed him.  I'm so proud of him!

We drove into town on Friday night and went straight to dinner at Sauce and Frost with the Dubs, Steins, Welches, and Betsy.  We had a great time and laughed so much.  Then, on Saturday morning, we had breakfast at Cafe Torino with Camille and the Lorenzens before heading to the U of A basketball game and reception.  Landon did great for all of these events and even slept a little through the game.  Then we had dinner at Blanco with the Ingrams, Rohrets, and Secrests.  It was so nice to be back in everyone's company and it all just felt right.  Wish we all lived closer.  On Sunday morning we went to church and Sunday School at Casas and then had lunch at In-N-Out burger with everyone that could join us from class.  After that we just relaxed at the Lorenzen's house and then went to dinner with Ben and Chrissy at The Keg...love that place!  Landon was a little fussy through dinner but I swaddled him and he went right to sleep.  Then, on Monday morning, Lee and Ben played golf while Landon and I went to breakfast with Alexis and Betsy.  Man, I miss those girls so much!  Finally, when Lee was done playing golf, we headed out of town and had lunch at eegee's with Richard before making the long drive back to Albuquerque.  Landon, once again, did great on the drive home!  Here are a few pics from that trip.

The third week was pretty low key as well.  We had a double date with the Nunn's and had Landon's 4 month check-up.  He weighed 12 pounds 9 ounces (10%),  24" long (25%) and his head was 40 cm (10%).  The doctor was worried that Landon is anemic because he's so pale....so, Landon had blood work done and he's perfectly healthy and his iron count is right in the middle of the range where it should be.  The doctor and nurses kept commenting on how happy Landon is and said he's the happiest baby they've ever seen.  That's the best compliment you can give new parents!  The doc also said we could start spoon feeding Rice cereal and stage 1 baby food to Landon.  We started with carrots, peas, sweet potaotes, green beans, squash, apples, pears, and bananas.  So far, Landon kind of likes carrots, sweet potatoes, and squah.  He HATED peas and green beans --  but has LOVED all the fruit.  My son has a sweet tooth....go figure!  Here's a pic from his doctor's visit.

Here are a few pics from his first Rice cereal eating experience

Finally, the last week in January was filled with my brother's birthday, two basketball games, a football event, getting the house cleaned (part of my Christmas present!), and a date night at Texas Roadhouse.  Hope your January was fun and eventful too!
